In April of 1888 a small group of dedicated believers committed themselves to the exaltation of our Lord Jesus through His local church and what has transpired since then is a glorious testimony of God showing off His bride to the world. Sinners have repented and believed the Gospel, believers have been encouraged and edified, and most importantly the Lord Jesus has been glorified as we await the day when the trumpet will sound and the entire world beholds His majesty.
Recently we as a church celebrated our 125th Anniversary and we are in awe of what God has done but look towards the future with joy knowing that we serve a God who is more glorious than words can express, all powerful, all knowing, and faithful. As a church we thank God for what He has done in our past but we look toward the future with an eager desire to see God do greater wonders than we can imagine so that His fame may be known by all tribes, tongues, and nations.
Moses reminded the people of Israel before they entered into the promise land of the need to remember the great works of God that they had seen and the Word they had heard when he says “9 “Only give heed to yourself and keep your soul diligently, so that you do not forget the things which your eyes have seen and they do not depart from your heart all the days of your life; but make them known to your sons and your grandsons. 10 Remember the day you stood before the Lord your God at Horeb, when the Lord said to me, ‘Assemble the people to Me, that I may let them hear My words so they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children.” (Deuteronomy 4:9-10) You see God didn’t want Israel to forget His past faithfulness to His people. Why would God want them to remember? The reason is when God’s people remember what God has done in the past it should inspire them to greater faithfulness in the future. At First Baptist we remember what God has done in our history yet in our embrace of a Sovereign God who is faithful in all things we strive forward towards greater days for His glory alone.
On behalf of the entire church family we would like to invite you to be part of what God is doing to do in this local assembly for His glory amongst all peoples till He returns. My prayer is that by the grace of God we will never forget His faithfulness to us and by His power walk in faith for another 125 years or till He returns!
