Where is Your Treasure
Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 6:19.... "Do not store up treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also".
Jesus is pointing out two different attitudes here to His disciples...an Earthly attitude, where a person's focus is on earthly treasures....and then a Heavenly attitude, where a person's focus is on Eternal things. Jesus was pointing out to His disciples that their focus should be on Heavenly things....to lay up treasures in Heaven where neither moth nor rust destroys.
As a believer we are a blessed people....but many times we forget that...we often define being blessed by the world's definition of blessing, which is a completely wrong thing to do. A follower of Jesus Christ is the most richly blessed person walking on the face of this earth….because they are blessed with having a relationship with God through Jesus Christ and what He alone has accomplished for them at Calvary.
We have to step out of our worldly minds and into our Heavenly minds....it’s only when we think with an eternal perspective that we will find our greatest treasure....Jesus Christ. Our earthly blessings were given to us that we may honor Christ....not just for our comfort and temporal happiness.
Remember the old saying "a piece of heaven on earth".... for me....that piece of heaven... is when we use our resources to ensure a child has clothes to wear, a mother has food to cook for her children, a family can heat their house, and the love of Christ is shared through our actions and words.
Empty words are hollow....our actions echo into Heaven.
