16 I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; 17 that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.
As Jesus talked with His disciples in John 14:16-17, He revealed to His disciples that He would soon leave them…yet, He would not leave them as orphans.
In John 14:16 Jesus communicates the coming in a special way of the third person of the Trinity, God the Holy Spirit….also known as “The Helper”.
(John 14:26, But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.)
(John 15:26-27, “When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me, 27 and you will testify also, because you have been with Me from the beginning.)
(John 16:7, But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.
The disciples were tasked by Christ to continue His ministry on earth—the proclamation of the gospel to the nations, the organization of the church, discipling believers.
Yet, how in the world were they to accomplish all that they had been tasked with?
Jesus told them, “My Father will give you a Helper.”
Friends, we must apply that same truth to our own lives. The Word of God tells us that the Holy Spirit (our Helper) is enough for us to fulfill every aspect of daily living for Christ, seeking righteousness, as well as, for our living out the Great Commission Christ has tasked to do.
We have been given a “Helper”.
