I was saved at a young age, growing up right here in this church. I sang songs and colored pages about Jesus and his love for me, but I can remember specifically hearing at a church camp that Jesus loved me so much that if I would have been the only one, He would have went to the cross for me. It was at that time I realized that all that was needed from me to receive the forgiveness He paid for, was to believe...it seems like such a simple thing.
But the New Testament tells us over and over how simple the gospel really is. Simply believing in what Jesus has done for us. Believing that He came and lived the life that you and I could not, believing that He bore our sins on Calvary, and believing that He rose again on the third day showing to us that death had been defeated once and for all. The gospel. So simple, but so life changing.
My life has certainly had many twists and turns, and looking back now, I can see God providing for me in all ways. And He in His infinite love and mercy has allowed me to be right here, at this time, in this place to serve Him. My wife Shelly and I are excited to be serving at FBC and are excited about what God is doing in this place. Our oldest son, Brad, is attending Missouri Baptist University in Chesterfield, and our youngest son, Jeff, attends Puxico High School.
One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Matthew 6:33-34…
But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
