I was raised in a Christian home and attended church from birth. My parents and grandmother were wonderful Christian role models for me and my siblings. When I was in 6th grade, I gave my heart to Jesus on a Saturday night in my bedroom. My mom and younger sister prayed with me. I remember the excitement and relief I felt to realize that I was now a child of God! I couldn’t wait to tell everyone. I remained close to God throughout most of high school, but then strayed away. I still attended church, but often it felt like I was just going through the motions. It wasn’t until several years later, after trying to handle life on my own, that I again realized how desperately I needed God. I’m so thankful He didn’t give up on me!
God has blessed me with a wonderful family, good health, and a loving church family at First Baptist Church. He also allowed me to retire from a career in education and led me to this position as administrative assistant.
1 Corinthians 13:13, says, “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” My prayer each day is for a closer walk with Jesus and to show his love to those around me.
